Uhhh, you know I am primitive. But check under www.dnw.co.uk then look under rostrum auctions and prices realized.
I see the 1935 error edge proof went 2900 plus juice as well - steeeeep!

  • Yes I gave up on the Churchill trial piece at £2400 but feel much better that the 1935 edge error went for £1900 more than I paid for mine.

Wow, those are solid reults, I'll have to check all the prices when I get back. I forgot to put in the bids before I left and the internet connection I had in Mozambique was so poor it kept timing out when I remembered to try to get bids in. But I made it out with no apparant injuries or diseases and now in wonderful South Africa. Seems like heavan compared to Pemba and Maputo.

I think the matte 1927 6d went cheap tho...
I think people are starting to pick up interest in these 20th pattern crowns.

This particular piece appears to be one of the first few minted to trial the design. It was then decided before the coin went to mint that the engravers initials spoiled the cleanness of the lines of Churchill's head so the mint asked that the initial be removed. Hence all the mints output was minus the initials. The question is, does this make it a pattern, a Satin proof or trial piece.

I think that fits the definition of pattern. I would def. like to see the coin "in hand" in comparison to the Satin piece as from your bit Gazza it would seem they should be different in finish. I will try to see if I can get a friend to post a decent picture of a satin piece...

What's the top price paid for an American Eunice Kennedy Shriver dollar?

    wow-

The thing that is sort of funny is that there are British rarities that remain reasonable

The engraver went blind doing the work. image

The good thing is the US Mint will only have replace "Eunice Kennedy" with "Maria" in about 30 years and they'll have a new commem!!! image
