Looking for any info on these posters. Anyone ever seen these before? How were they distributed?
These posters hung in my bedroom for my entire childhood and their condition shows it. They were won by my older brother at a school fair probably around 1981. I've never seen another one like it or any other athletes.
Here's what I have found...Champion Illustrated Sports was started in 1979 by CW Mundy in Indianapolis, IN (where I'm from). According to the web page, Mundy did sports illustrations for 10 years before moving on to impressionistic painting of which he has experienced moderate success.
About the artist CW Mundy
Champion Illustrated Sports appears to still exist but have no online presence.

So the posters were created the first year of the company, 1979. They are licensed by the NBA and the Players association.

The other artist was Debbie Huse. Here's an interview where she mentions doing paintings of Bird and Magic with Mundy, which leads me to believe these are the only two they did like this.
