COOL Hobo Buffalo 5 cent piece....

Here is a cool HOBO nickel that a friend of mine picked up at a garage sale. It is in the original case which I assume was purchased at a jewelry shop at the time. Any Ideas to the period?

I am sorry for the large photos in advance. -Dan

That case was intended for a $5 gold piece, which is the same size as a nickel. Banks in prosperous areas used to stock such cases to sell to customers who wanted to give a coin as a gift. I have purchased heirloom $5's in this same case.

Vintage 1910's or 1920's, before gold disappeared.

As to when the coin was carved, I could not say.

Although this Hobo looks good, this thread is bound to give some people an idea for marketing modern carvings. I tell you, it's a jungle out there! image
