Anyone care to comment on why this Ruth only got an "A"

Seller states that the Authentic is because of the pinhole near the bottom. Anyone else notice anything that prevented this one from receiving a numerical grade?

Nice Ruth but looks short top to bottom, my guess trimmed. Here is my only 1932 US Caramel to compare-

Pinholes don't cause authentic only grades unless there has been an attempt to repair. Card looks cleaned, creases lessened, and cut.

Odd they would repair the card and leave the pinhole...

I also think it looks trimmed along the top. Could be the scan though.

Often PSA will put a word describing the problem. I have two "A"'s in my collection. One says "altered" (don't know how or what) the other says "trimmed".

If, in fact there were several things done to this card as kbcards suggests, simply stating that it was altered would suffice.

Wouldn't it be nice if PSA would keep notes on the alterations and we could look up this information when we typed in the cert #?

Sounds like a Beach Boys song.

    yes trimmed.

In that case owner can request an 'A' vs no grage at all.

If he knew it then an 'A' is better than nothing.

Most ruth collectors ra epretty savy and can recognize trmming..so its a hard sell

top trimmed, especially bad on the right side.

I was thinking PSA had 2 'Authentic' grades like BGS - Authentic and 'Authentic - Altered'? Guess not. That has to fall in the latter category.
