1798 Large Cent Question...Update, Coin Imaged.

I have an opportunity to buy a late die state (Noyes die state C with thick cud above ATES and minor cud/breakage extending left) 1798 S-161 in an average minus Good (net graded) for $125. This appears to be too much using the CQR guide, but the guide doesn't touch on the prices with the late die state. Advice? Play or pass? Thanks in advance.
No pics, sorry. The few people here who know what I am asking about and are likely to have an answer can turn to the 1798 S-161 in their Noyes book and know what I'm asking. Thanks in advance.

after examining other examples that have sold (from low circ to mid ms and of various states), if you have one with the nice cud running from the right side of A to the middle/right of S and there aren't any major problems that price range is on par for such a neat die state. I'm sure if you wait long enough you could probably get one anywhere from 75-175. if you want the variety and have looked a bit for one but this is the one of the only ones you've found, i would advise not to quibble over 15-25 either way. if you study enough prices realized you'll see major fluctuations which is why sheldon nearly lost his mind attempting to standardize pricing for large cent marriages/states.
i just gotta say it, images would really help
hope it helps.
.
Chris McCawley has one with problems ag3 for $350.
One sold at HA 8-11 PCGS vf20 $805
" " " 1-06 NGC AG3 $103.50
" " " 1-05 NGC AU-55 $2,645
But I assume you already know that.
Get it !

I don't (currently) collect the earlier dates, mostly stick with the Classic Head Cents. But this coin had such a massive cud on it that I really couldn't just pass it up. I get to talk to the seller again on Friday. He's a good guy and a good source of coins, so at the very least, I see me buying it and keeping the wheels greased.
I will image it after I buy it, of course, and post it on this forum...unless I sell it first for an obscene profit™
the scratch hurts but the coin has much more meat and detail than i thought it would.
without the scratch it would have been a super deal. with it still a very nice pickup and hard to pass at $125
$125 is the sweet spot for this available but eye appealing marriage/state with light damage. EAC collectors are no strangers to problem coins, myself included and even at the upper echelon.
thanks for uploading the images too !
i don't track the threads, but i just may start doing so, where people forget about us on the back end and after all the time and effort a little closure would be nice

Wow! I was thinking of bringing my coin to FUN, but that auction has me thinking otherwise.
Thanks for the link
