Some ebayers! Ebay acted fast after a call!

Had an ebayer buy a coin...after 3 days I start digging. There my coin is listed forsale on ebay using my pictures and the ahole hadn't even paid for it! I called ebay and his listing was cancelled in a matter of minutes! Couldn't get them to cancel our transaction though...have to go through the wait.

The offender needed to start his auction as soon as possible so that he could maximize the exposure of his sale during your return period, and then return the coin to you if he couldn't make a profit within that time.

I would not have a problem what so ever...even using my pictures if he had paid for it. I sold it for $385(Reasonable fair price)...he had it listed with a starting bid of $575(a bit over the top of retail) with a Buy it Now for $1200! Now that is the sign of someone trying to RIP someone off!

I'll bet you'd have a problem with him returning the coin to you at the end of the return period if he didn't land a sucker. Since he seems to have no problem ripping off his customers, why wouldn't he also want to rip off his suppliers? Would eBay let you void a return policy if the buyer listed the purchased item for sale? Probably pretty hard to show this every time, especially if he were to go through a proxy for either buying or selling.

Maybe you guys are missing something! He hasn't paid for the coin! I still have the coin! I sold the coin at a fair price given it has issues...

Well...ebay canned his auction..so no link to that,and the guy actually paid for the coin this morning so fingers crossed!

Personally, I'd love to hear the whole story (PM if you desire), because I'm the same type of person. Were it my coin, and the 'almost' buyer pulled that, I'd be on the horn with ebay poste haste!

Also, did the buyer-turned-seller use your title/description (copy/paste it), as we already know he used YOUR images....?

2 reasons!

1) He is definately trying to bury someone in a coin I felt was accurately priced.

2) 100-1 odds says I will get the coin back if he doesn't try to scam a sig. confirmation and say he didn't get it!

Edit to add: He enhanced my pictures to make the coin look better than it was...so no he didn't copy my description!

I'm missing something. You don't want to sell a coin to someone who wants to mark it up more than you do? Maybe he knows something you don't.

Let's say he buys the coin, waits a week or so and then sells it at a large mark up? What do you do then?

You have also made an assumption the buyer is going to return the coin if he doesn't sell it. What is your basis for that? I thought we give someone a little benefit of the doubt here.

Personally, if I sell a coin, and someone wants to double up on it, then that's their business, not mine. It's no reflection on me, as I have sold the coin. Once you've sold the coin, you have no say in what happens to it.

Go ahead and blast me, but just my opinion.

ADD I'm not condoning the actions of the buyer (listing the coin), but we are making assumptions that he will not pay. Sounds like he is still in the E-Bay window to pay on time.

A coin is not sold until the buyer pays for it.

! I will Blast You. Believe me I know what I sell and have been in the business for quite awhile. This seems like a bait to get me to spill the beans! All I will say is The coin was flea market material and the seller was doing a flea market job of trying to cash in big time! Do I care if someone makes money on what I sell! Not in the least! Do I care if someone makes money on me if the y sell me a coin? Not in the least! A coin is what a coin is! I just paid double the price a coin just sold for on Heritage for my collection! Ya snooze ya loose so ta speak!

I am astounded how people try to turn an obvious abuser of the system into a good guy. Perhaps he is your friend?????

You should have let it go, but have someone else hit the buy it now. Then THEY can wait 14 days, send it back, and it is outside the original buyer's return.

But on the other hand, why is the first couple of hours of a coin show for dealers only, or those willing to pony up the big bucks? Are they buying coins, taking it to their space, and then marking it up?

Other than the seller not yet paying for it, I am not sure of the issue, except maybe juicing the pictures.

I deal in used auto parts. On a 3 or 4 day swap meet, you might see the same part moving thru the meet. Starts at $20, shows up somewhere else at $50 and finally for sale for $100.

Value can be a perception.

The difference in your scenario is that the dealers have already paid for the item before taking it to their table and marking it up...

It would trouble me if the auction winner didn't pay and listed the coin for sale with my pictures. It would lead me to believe the auction winner might play games with me too.

So I don't blame the OP for being leery.

Not sure I understand about the reluctance to show the listing, though.

I would laugh and send him a note letting him know that I've noticed he had time to relist it and wondering why he hadn't had time to log into paypal and pay....
