1914 China $1 - PCGS AU55 NEWP

I just picked this one up the other day. It is a 1914 original, not the restrike with the "triangle Yuan".

I liked it because it has nice surfaces free of big bag marks, but I think needs to be cracked out and soaked in acetone to remove that black gunk, andd resubmitted

What do you think?

For myself I like the black gunk, but do know your love for the Secure Plus holders. So I see that as more of your crackout motive. Very nice piece though.

I got a good deal on the coin - $139.99 + $10 shipping = $149.99 total. When normal AU details (damaged) coins go for that price or more.

Either I'll crack it, acetone and resubmit, or keep it as-is and upgrade when I see a nice 61 or 62.

Looks like a couple of rim dings on the head side but I don't think anything else will appear if you acetone it. If it was mine I would crack it. If you decide to do it show us before and after pictures next to each other. If you don;t like it after an acetone bath, I will take it off your hands.image
