Where do I keep these??

I've been wondering, once your collection gets too large for a safe deposit box and too valuable to keep around the house, where do you keep it?

I'm thinking maybe a fire proof safe. What do they cost?

Any other ideas?

Now let's hope someone provides a real answer...

I'd be cautious of a fire safe. Contrary to the name; it doesn't provide a lot of protection for paper. If the heat is sustained, the paper will brown and sometimes even catch fire.

  • I agree with Dave. Call your insurance company and ask what kind of itemized documentation they need in order to insure collectbles. It will most likely include some sort of written appraisal with photos, description, etc. - then they will quote what it will cost to ad it to your homeowners/renters policy. Then you can enjoy it in your home worry-free. My grandfather told me to insure any item/ collection you have that would cost at least 1% of the value of your home to replace. I think that's pretty good advice. I personally don't understand guys that keep their good stuff in a bank where they can never enjoy it.
