Hey everyone,
I have been peeking in on this forum for a few weeks now and actually learned quite a bit just by reading some of the posts, so I decided to sign up. Like many others, I collected cards as a kid (80's & 90's junk) and got back into the hobby a few years ago and recently started focusing more on vintage. Unfortunately, as of now I have kind of a "weak" vintage collection (compared to most of you) but I am slowly adding to it with mostly graded near mint cards. I look forward to chatting with some of you and learning more about sports cards as well as the hobby itself.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Welcome.
Happy Thanksgiving and don't be a stranger.
Have you established a "focus?"
If just getting back into the hobby more seriously, I do have a simple recommendation - or should I say - simple set of rules I go by. Unless - of course - you have a truckload of bucks.
Rules:
1. Establish a Focus - otherwise we're tempted to try and cover the market on anything and everything.
2. Establish a Budget - as I said - unless we have a boatload of dough - this will allow one to maintain their sanity.
3. Never break rule 1 or 2!
Good luck!
I wish I had known about rule #2, oh well.

Great advice! It seems so simple but yet it's real easy to lose sight of what our "focus" is, as I experienced it personally. I finally found the light or "focus" as you say after wanting to only collect un-opened material (after watching muggyman's vids on youtube) then went through a short phase of 90's Jordan inserts, and then finally ended up focusing on vintage. I do plan on collecting some un-opened wax in the future, but it's not top on my list.
Thanks everyone for the welcoming!
Great group of guys on here with a wealth of knowledge to take advantage of as you've already seen. Looking forward to your posts.

Collecting:
Any unopened Baseball cello and rack packs and boxes from the 1970's and early 1980s.
Always buying Bobby Cox inserts. PM me.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)
