What would you do? Opinions wanted

I just bought a beautiful 1968 Topps Action All Star panel, do I leave it alone? Seperate them and sub them? The Rose panel would be a nice upgrade for my master set? Just curious what everyone thought. I know thinking keeping it together may be the way to go(might be rarer in the future that way?). What are the boards thoughts?

Thanks, Mark

    I'd leave it together.
If you need individual panels, either wait for someone else to sub one or wait for a whole panel that has issues on some of them before seperating one out. Lot rarer this way...............

I would leave as-is. I just read an article on this issue in The Topps Archives yesterday. Here is the link (sorry it's not a direct link):

There are photos of a wrapper and box in the article as well. I thought it was interesting that while people call them Action All Stars, the real name is Baseball Action Stickers.

you can never put it back together if you take it apart.
Its like wax packs. Yours will become more rare just because its whole.
  • Cool piece. Leave it, for sure. It would look great matted and framed.

I have a full set of the full panels and it is one of my few Topps sets I can not display in a binder, so if you are a Rose collector mainly I can see the advatage of separating and grading the Rose panel. As a long time collector of all Topps sets I am distressed that PSA has encouraged the separation of these panels thus, in my mind, damaging and trimming these items. Because of that, I think there will in the future be a large premium for full panels. But in the end, you are the collector and it is your item. Do what is best for you.

I think this is the way you should look at most of the items you collect. That being said, that panel looks to be in real nice condition ... don't think you will find too many like that. I say keep as is and look for your Rose elsewhere.

  • Thank you to everyone for your comments. I sincerely appreciate it. I have decided to leave it in one piece. I like the framing and matting idea. Will probably do that. I will find a Rose panel that will upgrade the 5(oc) that I have soon enough(I hope). Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy your families and keep them safe.
