How did this happen? I submitted 120 cards and got no half-point grades?!

I just got back a sub of about 120 cards. I got many 7s, 8s, and 9s. But not even one card got a 7.5 or 8.5! PSA does still give half-point grades, right? Is there something I'm missing? I got a couple of them on a previous, much smaller sub. Any comments?
Thanks!

yes. based on my own recent experiences, i'd say i'm shocked. or maybe the HPGOD (Half Point Grader Of Death) was at a meeting.
Appreciate today-

<< <i>.....vintage commons in PSA 8.5 often sell for less than the straight 8 unless they are a low pop card. >>
good observation. almost better to crack and send 'em back for nothing exceeding an 8. how backwards is that?

Probably because a PSA 8.5 will not show up in a search for PSA 8.

there are other factors. if you are dealing with a unique group of buyers because your listings all fall within the same general category, the 8.5's don't get missed.....i've studied this.
my PSA 8's & 8.5's have drawn roughly the same amount of attention.
they have not, however, received the same amount of bids.
my opinion is that to many collectors, uniformity is as important as overall appearance, and if they want to build a PSA 8 set, an 8.5 doesn't fit......unless you want to build a set of all 8.5's or there's no available alternative.
how could that be accomplished especially if sellers lamenting the disasters they've endured no longer wish to pursue or promote the same cards?
there are exceptions to the rule with half grades, and it seems that most of the premium aided cards must be high profile stars, HOFers, short prints, whatever.
what really confounds me is that through the experience of looking at my own graded cards as well as those on ebay, quite often the straight 8 looks better. for whatever reason, the graders' interpretations sometimes just don't make sense.
I think when appropriate the 0.5 grade is fantastic.
Here is an example of an 8.5 that is a great looking card. I was thrilled to get the results of this one when I got it graded.
<< <i>I think the half points have turned into a joke. They're really reserved for sending cards in for review. If it was a true half grade rating, you'd see a normal distribution of half grades instead of something like 45% 8s, 45% 9s, 10% 8.5s. It may be a blessing in diguise though. Now they qualify for the review. Of coarse you have to pay again.
