Mike and I have a decent number of 1973 Series 2/3 and 1974 racks left over from the Sun Times show. Steve looked them over and
has given the seal of approval on them. They came from a former Topps employee and are well preserved, having been put away long
ago still in their original rack boxes.
Since we haven't had too many early/mid 70s rips this year we figured we'd try to start one here on the B/S/T board.
To make it interesting we're treating all the racks the same, even the ones with stars showing on them. We'll use a random distribution
approach (just like BBCE) to allocate them so that there will be some really great surprises. We'll also do the same with the empty rack
boxes. To insure maximum opportunity for star racks to be in the hands of as many people as possible, no one will get more than 1 star/HOFer
rack until everyone else has already gotten one too (i.e. no one gets 2 star racks before everyone has at least 1, and that is unlikely since
if a large number of people ask for racks there will likely be more people than there are star racks). We'll do the empty rack boxes the same way,
so that those who do not get star racks (if any) will have first priority on the empty rack boxes.
Those who saw the pictures from the show know that one of the 1973 racks has Nolan Ryan and Luis Aparicio showing on the back. Some
who were at the show probably saw the 1973 Hunter on Front rack, so in the interests of making sure that no one has better information than
anyone else we're making that known now to everyone too. We will say that there are a decent number of other HOF names in these racks (both
years). In fact, once all racks have been shipped we can publish scans of all of them if that would be of interest.
We'll start the offering TOMORROW AT 9PM EST TUESDAY November 20th with limits of 1 rack from each year for the first 48 hours, and then 1
additional rack for each year every 24 hours thereafter until they are gone (or until Sunday night at 9PM EST). As the boxes are leftover, it wil
not be necessary to sell out, but the empty rack box form each year will not be offered unless all the racks from its year are sold out.
ALL REQUESTS ARE TO BE POSTED TO AS REPLIES TO THIS THREAD AND WILL NOT BE VALID IF THEY ARE POSTED BEFORE 9PM EST TUESDAY
NOVEMBER 20TH 2012.
There are 19 1973 Series 2/3 Racks (54 cards/rack, 36 2nd series + 18 3rd series) and 17 1974 Racks (42 cards, all series) available. Just about all of
the 1973 possible stars in 9/10 would be huge, as the only major ones that are not possible are Schmidt RC, McCovey, Rose, Aaron, Clemente and Ruth/
Aaron/Mays.
