No SGC sales in VCP. No real background on it, but it should do VERY well, especially in that grade.
edit: took out the giant .jpg ...... don't know why it showed so big - pic is in the above link.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
I don't mean to act like a forum cop but several posters are getting the impression you're abusing forum rules. It wouldn't be the case if you were asking a legitimate question but your intent is clear by adding the auction link. Please refrain from posting spam here, unless you expect the mod to move it again, just like they did two days ago to the appropriate form -> BST Forum
much appreciated

Absolutely, there are over 100 legitimate copies of these.
A chit load of these have been auctioned off in the last 6 months on ebay and in auction houses.
There are currently 4 listed on ebay.
PSA 7s running between $4000 - $5000.
I have been following the sales of these trying to get an idea of value.
I own the one that was given away at the National by BBCE.

All 100 were supposedly given to Bush but some were also reported to have been pulled from packs. I believe more than 100 copies exist of this card but who knows.

They did not sell them......100 were given directly to Pres Bush. It is assumed he gave them away at his discretion.
.....rumors are unconfirmed that a few ended up in packs.

These cards were made by Topps exclusively for Bush only. He gave them out to those close to him so in essence, yes, those cards are extremely rare.
==> I would think most of these will never be sold if thats the case....makes sense now
thanks

My opinion, based purely on unfounded speculation mind you, is that very few, if any, of the examples we see being sold in the marketplace today are from the 100 given to Bush. My reasoning for this is I have never seen any story of provenance of an example being sold that had come directly from the President. If it were so, I think the seller would divulge that information because, in my opinion, it would greatly increase the value. Some may argue that in many cases the receiver of the gift would not want to divulge they were selling a gift from the President or even perhaps the card was stolen and thus its provenance can not be divulged but one would think that there would be at least one case where the card was being sold, perhaps for charity, where its provenance does indeed lead back to the Pres.
1) This is 100% correct, if Bush was handing these out we'd have heard of it happening through an auction listing or whatever. Nobody is going to not mention that when trying to sell it. I think a more reasonable explanation is that Topps gave some of these to employees as they did with other niche/prototype stuff they made that was never sold on the market.
2) There's no way there are only 100 of these. 5 have sold within the past year on ebay and another 4 or 5 have been listed and gone unsold. Add to that probably a handful that have gone through the auction houses and you're probably around 11-14 that have surfaced in the last year. That is not consistent with a card that only has 100 copies, especially considering a lot of the buyers of this card have incredibly deep pockets and are unlikely to resell their copy once they get their hands on it.
Just to draw a parallel, the 1996 Flair Legacy Row 0 (numbered out of 150) is an iconic card for Jordan and modern basketball collectors and sells for around $3k. Only 5 of these have popped up on ebay in the past year at a time when every tough Jordan insert is hitting the market because prices are through the roof. If there were only 100 Bush cards, we would only see about 3-6 per year and we've been seeing double that. Obviously this isn't proof that there are more than 100, but logic dictates that's the case.

<< <i>Most elaborate spam ever >>
not at all elaborate. More like blatant and unrepentant flaunting of this forum's posted and accepted ROC. For some reason the OP feels he is above the rules, and his legion of admirers eagerly give him a pass.
He did the same thing the other day. That thread was moved to the appropriate forum, but our hero is undeterred.
Edit: it's high time for the moderation team to either change the rules of the SC&MF and allow advertising/spamming across the board and do away with the BST forum, or make sure the OP understands he is NOT allowed to thumb his nose at rules the rest of the board adheres to.

I posted what I did because most do not realize this card sells for more then the the action shot.
Thanks, I appreciate the support. Do you think I have this high grade 1978 Topps set too high?
I can't do that, it would be against forum rules. I was just trying to get some info on some of my cards, that's all.
If Lee gets a good sale from sarcastically spamming probstein's spam thread then he might go down as the greatest ebay card seller of all time.

I will give Probstein credit for one thing, he certainly elicits reactions one way or another....and I must admit the use of a question about the card to post a link to his auction is classic, especially considering the guy has got to be one of the most involved and high profile collectors going and the idea of him not knowing much about this card is pure BS

No doubt about it.
If the Bush card was produced on one sheet of 132, and he was given 100, maybe Topps employees got the other 32 and they are the cards finding their way into the hobby. I agree with whoever above said that if the cards hitting the market were from the Bush 100, you would think some would be signed and their source would be touted. Many of the Garagiola cards that hit the market are signed.
Whatever the OP's intent, threads about unique cards are always interesting to me.

While we're at it, can anybody tell me anything about this 2012 Topps mini case? Anybody know how many of these were released?
<< <i>I know when I get my hands on an $8000 card the first thing I do is list it, then I look for information after it's been listed. Isn't that what most mega-dealers and auction houses do?
