T73 Indian Life & R73 Indian Gum thread

Hi. I am new to the forums and wanted to start an Indian non-sport thread, as I am completing both sets. Looking to trade some extras I have or buy the tuff ones (basic sets). I am doing collector grade PSA2 -5. I could even trade down on some of my cards to gain the ones I need. Just love these sets!

How's about some pictures for those not familiar with the set? I'd love to see a couple.
  • Here is the card that made me want to collect the 50 card set of T73 Indian Life 1910. Once I read the back, I was hooked.

Here is the key card to the 216 card set of R73 Indian Gum 1933. I have only seen two ever for sale the last two years.

  • Here's my theory on why 1933 Indian Gum card #192 Chief Red Cloud is so difficult to obtain:

    image

The card info on the back is in error. Chief Red Cloud of South Dakota /Black Hills area is very famous and well documeneted, and the front portrait is definately Red Cloud in the featherheadress.

The info on back is all about the Schenectady Massacre which took place nearly TWO HUNDRED years before Red Cloud. I can find no google info on any other Red Cloud being involved in the New York/Mohawk wars.

So, my theory goes that customers wrote in to Goudey about the misinformation, including academics and Native Americans. This may have caused Goudey management to pull card 192 from distribution at times. They never corrected the back info~ even on the 1947 re-issue.
