A sensational collection of classic coins being auctioned next week in
Baltimore by Stacks/Bowers, including nearly 150+ fresh pieces from
a collection I am handling that has been off the market for the better
part of the last two decades. Here are some examples from the collection
(with approximate reserves or opening bids before buyers' premium as I

Exceedingly rare coin. I believe the PCGS Price Guide lists this coin at
$100,000 in PR65 (without cameo). Here the reserve before buyers' fee is less than half
that amount for a PR65CAM example!

X. Lot 3029: 1969-S Lincoln Cent Doubled Die (PCGS-AU58) (CAC) - $24,000.
I really like the coin for the grade!
Y. Lot 3029: 1909(svdb) Lincoln Cent (PCGS-MS66RD) -$8,500.
Z. Lot 3027: 1955 Lincoln Cent (Doubled Die) (NGC-MS66RB) - $27,000!
There are a few other interesting Indian and Lincoln Cents as well including a 1917 Doubled Die in PCGS-MS66RD.
And, a final neat coin to mention in the sale is the 1965 Roosevelt Dime struck on a silver planchet and grading PCGS-MS62 (Lot 3224).
I am not sure if there are any graded higher at PCGS or NGC, but, I own a mint state 1965 Washington Quarter struck on a silver planchet
in my personal Washington Quarter collection and it is one of my prized pieces.
