Largest group of a particular card, PSA 10 candidate

I've heard many people say they have sent in large groups of a particular card, hoping the grader(s) will distinguish certain ones as being better and giving out the coveted 10. What disaster stories have you encountered by sending in large groups and receiving all 9's and lower?

I don't submit modern so it isn't often I have a large run of 10 candidates to submit. My worst example would be 1976 Tom Underwood's that I submitted expecting mostly 9s and possibly a 10. I ended up getting 5 8's.
