Thought this was really cool. A lot of awesome photos, and a great mix of past and present. SI actually did something good for once.

Some really great ones in there. Thanks!

  • Great pics indeed.

Some of the modern ones I wouldn't say are in the greatest 100

My favorite is the Roger Staubach Navy photo.

A few that would be in my top 100

I'd ditch the rainbow trout one in favor of this:

What, no Jim Rice in action photos on the list?

Looking at the pictures of who and what is there and who and what could and should be there if we are truly considering all of Sports and even what is considered a great photograph that captures the subject and moment leads me to conclude the list is disappointing-

that is about as brief and to the point and fair as I can be

I expected to see the: July 11, 1990 against the Baltimore Orioles, Bo Jackson performed his famous "wall run", when he caught a ball approximately 2-3 strides away from the wall. As he caught the ball at full tilt, Jackson looked up and noticed the wall and began to run up the wall, one leg reaching higher as he ascended.

quite incomplete; Jesse Owens getting the gold medal in '36 should be on everyones list. What the hell is Serena Williams doing there?
  • Those are some great photos.

A few missing off the top of my head...

-Ty Cobb stealing 3rd (famous conlon photo).

-More baseball photos from the late 1800's or early 1900's. Only 1 photo of ruth is a little surprising.

-Seems like too many football photos. I don't know if they're as famous as say the dwight clark shot. The bobby martin shot or randy moss?

    -Rainbow trout??

What happened to Kirk Gibson in 88 or Fisk in '75. Those are iconic.

The Jacques Plante shot. What a way to play hockey.

While I remember many of these pictures some of them would not even come close to being in the Top 100.

    For example:

    The head shot of Leon Spinks in a hooded sweatshirt grinning with his upper front teeth missing (I suspect this photo was taken after he won the heavyweight title, but Come On Man!!!!!!!!!!!!);

A photo of game action in a college basketball game played (last year if I recall) outside on the deck of an aircraft carrier (one of the 100 greatest????, ................... Come On Man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
