Ebay Sales circa 1998

In a house cleaning I ran across a bunch of envelopes, remember when every Ebay payment was via check? Almost every envelope has a letter or email in reference to what was bought. I did a lot of selling back then and there were some interesting prices:
Bristish 5 Pound gold $380 (1.17 oz of gold)
2 rolls of silver eagles $300
100 oz silver bar $690
5 dos pesos $92
1982 1/4 oz gold Kruggerand $88
2 silver Maple Leafs $15.20
8 rolls of Mercury dimes $204 on this one I mention having BU rolls of Mercs for sale also.
I was doing these sales working with a local dealer and somehow was making money at these prices. There were some sales of 3k or 5k that look like real good buys. I also found some of my buying receipts for Morgan prices I still have a few slabbed 64's I got for about 24 bucks.
What doesn't change? One of the 100 oz silver bars sold was stolen in the mail.

wow, we would have to have a complete collapse of the system for those kinda prices to come back. pretty scary to think about. imagine a 5 cent loaf of bread coming back.
who is john galt, indeed.
I remember buying rolls of Mercs on the 'bay in 2004-2005 for $24-25. Rolls of silver Washingtons for $48-50. I thought I was crazy back then as did everyone else. This was shortly after I started very seriously collecting coins. I wasn't buying them back then just to stack bullion but just because I liked them and because they weren't making them anymore. The silver stacking factor didn't hit me until about 2008-2009......of course this was after the fact and after I had sold all of them for about 7-7.5X face to have some $$$ to buy "collector coins".
I won a $5 gold Liberty on ebay for $162. The seller never shipped it after I sent them a M.O. I never did anything about it besides call the guy's # over and over leaving threatening messages. This was before I knew that ebay would help track down the scumbag sellers that don't ship.
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
