Abe the movie...
The new Steven Spielberg " Lincoln" Do you think this movie will make the 1909sV.D.B. rise in value? or at least peak the interest of the non-collector?
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!

<< <i>Nope as 1860 Lincoln Presidential Campaign Rail Splitter Tokens didn't rise in value after Tim Burton's "Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter" >>
I don't think it will either, but that Burton movie is hardly a worthy comparison.

<< <i>Spielberg is entranced by Lincoln and I built him a replica of one of Mathew Brady's cameras. It's sitting on his desk. >>
I had no idea who Brady was until you mentioned his name. Brady photographed 18 of the 19 American Presidents from John Quincy Adams to William McKinley. The exception was the 9th President, William Henry Harrison, who died in office three years before Brady started his Photographic Collection.
The Spielberg tie-in is pretty cool, too.

LMAO!!
As for the movie having an impact on the value of 09SVBD?
LMAO!
I hardly think since the coins are over-valued as it is!

FAIL.

Certainly NOT during his Presidency since I doubt that the President of the United States has ever had the need to..........run down to the store and do some shopping. Or perhaps, tip the head waiter or any number of other things where coins would be used.
"Presidents" and/or "Heads of State" have no need for cash as things are giving to or supplied for them.
Besides, isn't saying that Lincoln could have held it in his hand the same as posting a picture of a 2009 District of Columbia quarter in 50 years and saying that Barack Obama might have held this in his hand? Or perhaps a 1963 Franklin Haf and saying that Kennedy might have held this in his hand?

True, there really wasn't that much at stake.

MS67. Do it.
Presidential protection was generally a single Pinkerton man (can't remember his name) with a weapon.
I'd bet Lincoln carried his own cash. Might be in the book.
Mary, on the other hand, found it easy to get credit. Poor bast*rd
<< <i>"Team of Rivals" by Doris Kearns Goodwin (close enough) is an amazing read, with great research on not just History but the human side of political interplay between Lincoln and his Cabinet members and the members with each other.

In the TV adverts, Abe's voice just isn't what I would have expected it to be. It sounds too high in pitch. For that reason, the movie is not real high on my "To See" list.

I can understand this, but you are just perpetuating your own ignorance.
“Lincoln’s voice, as far as period descriptions go, was a little shriller, a little higher,” says Holzer. It would be a mistake to say that his voice was squeaky though. “People said that his voice carried into crowds beautifully. Just because the tone was high doesn’t mean it wasn’t far-reaching,” he says.

And c'mon, Daniel Day Lewis! I plan to see it in theaters. A rarity for me these days.
But I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Ya know, just the other day, posters were lamenting the Decline of Coindom here on the CU boards. And all of a sudden, tucked inside an innocous thread is such a gem of a link of quality historical information. I love this post and the link. Just fascinating!
Bravo!

Things were quite different when Lincoln became president. For instance, when he showed up in Washington for his inauguration, he stayed at the Willard Hotel and paid for his room with an IOU because he had to wait for his first check as President to pay off the debt.

Ahhhh. Thanks for the lesson! I knew that DDL researched his characters so completely that he's even know for wearing the costumes and makeup and using the characters voice and mannerisms for weeks on end in his personal life.
The voice just kinda blew me away as it's definitely not what I expected.
