Just my quick thoughts --- I have had no issue with the Red Cross in the past but they are getting crushed here --- one of the problems is that the destruction is all over the place so many areas have been hit hard and what you see on TV is just a very small part --- I live on Long Island about 15 minutes from Long Beach -- it is awful there -- my sister lives there and almost all her stuff is gone. To my knowledge the Red Cross has not been there --- they might be somewhere else but the when you have seen them they have passed out cookies and hot chocolate

--- the people needed socks and coats etc... Plus remember the Red Cross pools its money into their general fund --- after 9/11 they were forced to set up a separate fund for that disaster only. I have no idea how best to direct funds maybe the Red Cross is the best way but I just don't know
