Mark Mcgwire Hat Authentification

My dad went to the last home game Mcgwire would play in an A's uniform and somehow managed to reel in his hat which he threw into the stands at the end of the game. Would it be possible to get this sent to an authenticator to be certified? Besides the "25" on the bill of the cap which could easily be forged, I don't see how it could be authenticated. Would it be a waste of time and money to send this to an authenticator?

I would assume if you could find photos of that game you could photo match it to help prove authenticity. There has to be pictures of that game or at least the last few games of the season in which he surely wore this hat. Photo matching is better than a COA to prove authenticity.

Knowing my dad he probably a.) Didn't take any pictures. b.) Sure as hell wouldn't have a clue where they are. You think just photos I find on the internet of his last few games in Oakland would suffice?

Absolutely they would suffice; googling something about his last game in Oakland may work, but searching something like Getty images would probably be fruitful.

The leader in game used authenication is MEARS out of Milwaukee.....

It is nearly impossible to photomatch a baseball hat (stylematch yes; photomatch no)
