My good friend, mentor, and long time numismatist,

Vernon "Ozzie" Oswald from Allentown, PA passed away Monday after a long illness.
RIP, buddy.

PNG member, numismatic dealer since 1965. Operates a retail store, also has exhibited at over 1000 shows.
I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

Its hard to imagine even you had a mentor.
He must have been some numismatist and human being!

(Just think of city streets clogged with a hundred thousand horses each generating 15 lbs of manure every day...)
That is indeed sad news.

Ossie was the first coin dealer I visited when I started getting interested in coins. He showed me some eye opener coins that I did not know even existed - the one I remember is a choice unc. 1804 large cent-He only wanted $3,000 for it around 1965. Back then I could not have even bought it for $30. He opened his shop around 1962 or 1963. His daughter Linda Kemp took over the name and you may have see her at some major shows. Later on in life he became more interested in paper money. Ossie was well known in the Allentown, Pa area and did travel and to many shows as a coin dealer. Some of you may know him or his wife or daughter or son. RIP Ossie.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
I used to be famous now I just collect coins.
