anyone want to venture a guess?

Purely speculation of course, but I am thinking about buying a card that should comfortably grade a PSA 5. No sales of any grades on VCP other than a PSA 5 with a qualifier that sold for $270. I've heard that qualifiers tend to drop the value down to that of 2 grades lower (PSA 3 value ?). That being said, what might be a guess at what this card would sell for if it grades out at PSA 5? Thanks, Tom

Depends on the card and how it looks. Centering and overall eye-appeal are important.

Its a rare old golf card with ver nice centering. It would be a solid PSA 5 with a PSA 6 by the right grader.
  • Can you give us more information about the card to help you with the value? Is it an ungraded Tom Morris?

Yes be very careful on the 1901-1902 ogdens morris cards. if that is what you are after. I have graded numerous ones over the years.

    1) the black borders are sometimes retouched.

    2) PSA is very inconsistent on these cards in my opinion. I have had ones graded over the years that look to be like PSA NM 7's and they come back 4's and other ones that look rough around the edges and I think will be PSA 3-4 range and they come back PSA 6's _ I also have a number that have seemed to be what I thought they would be.

PSA 5's on this issue is really freaking tough.....These cards are brutally tough, have centering issues, are sometimes trimmed, surfaces crack etc...basically I am saying is that I gave up trying to accurately predict the grades on these cards from the Ogden's series a long time ago. I just try to get nice ones, send em in, get em authenticated and hope for the best
