A Numismatic Nightmare

Well, it all started when I ordered and received a box of coins and related items from forum member, Pistareen (John Kraljevich). The headliner item that I requested was a proof Saint in its original cellophane wrapper from the Mint, something that I never thought to exist as such. He said that he would send me some other items that might interest me, as he often does, and when the box came, I emptied (or dumped) the contents on my kitchen table.
Mostly, I was interested in the proof Saint in the cellophane wrapper when my wife came in and informed that I had received another box of coins. Whoa! I had forgotten that I ordered another proof gold coin, a raw 1906 proof half eagle, with unusual color, also from a forum member, newmismatist, with whom I had little contact recently but had developed a relationsip with earlier.
Well, I was studying both coins rather intently, realizing that I could only keep one, knowing exactly how much money is currently in my checking account. The proof Saint was difficult to view, as the cellophane had become somewhat opaque over the years. It was challenging to determine if this coin was truly a proof. On the other hand, the 1906 proof $5 was most definitely a proof but had strange but attractive color which I could not tell for sure was original (but probably not).
Anyways, all of this made me hungry, and I grabbed an apple from the kitchen table and took a few bites. The apple was somewhat tasteless...
Getting back to the coins, I decided that I wanted to keep the Saint and was interested in knowing the invoice price. I reached for the invoice, and lo and behold, learned that there were two apples on the JKAN invoice, each over $5000, and after some diagnostics, I had just bitten into a preserved apple from a Johnny Appleseed lineage tree on George Washington property, valued at $5850. Now, it would appear, I would have to buy the half-eaten collectible apple and pass on the coins. What a shame!
And then, the alarm clock sounded, and it was time for me to wake up on Monday, October 29, at 5:30 AM.

I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.

Or perhaps you could do a sequel to Bear's beloved Camelot, introducing the Dreck Dragon.

I am completely serious. I dreamt that last night.
You moved from "almost, but not quite normal" to "slightly twisted, especially under duress".
This places you just higher than a large number of forum members and just below allegri. He is "moderately twisted". Don't worry, you are well below Anaconda, near the top of the list, under "irrevocably twisted and in more than one way".

<< <i>What I thought was interesting was the usual interplay, in dreams, of what is fact or real (my checking account balance and fruit on our kitchen table), recent thoughts (I recently saw a proof half eagle that I thought was reasonably priced), people from your life (my wife, JK, and Ron), and the absurd (a proof Saint in a cellophane wrapper, cut apart from the rest of the coins in the set AND, of course, the pedigreed apples). >>
combine it with a seinfeld episode and replace it with one from the local store. it's ok, it's all fantasy.
That is hilarious. I've had many "unusual" dreams in my day as well, which mimic reality and employ various factual aspects mixed with bizarre fantasy. What makes the dream really interesting to me is that pretty much all of it could have happened. Very funny stuff!
My last "good" one, I dreamed the positions to my right were taking 122 mm artillery fire, and then it shift to our area. I dove in a slit trench. I remember the trench was deeper than expected. I woke up when I hit the floor, and we have hardwood floors. I had bruises up and down my right side, and I am just glad I did not land on my face. My wife said I yelled out, stood up in bed, and dove off the side before she could grab me.
In 30+ years of marriage, she had gotten used to the "flahback events", and normally can just grab hold of me and yell in my ear until I wake up.
well, maybe "similar" is too strong a word, in this case, what with the historic apple and
all. Most of my coin-related dreams involve finding a hoard or collection in some unlikely
place, and the joy and fun of searching through it.
Or do we have to wait for the next dream to find out?

Exquisite! The birth of cubism in numismatics. Very surreal and yet more vivid than I imagined from RYK.
Then, at the end of the story I became much more concerned........
a year ago, I was like a drifter dude and I was doing some odd jobs for a
HOT redhead at her ranch and she would pay me in BU 1911D half eagles
from a little change purse she had that was full of them, but her apples had
freckles on them

Added - Newmismatist has been known to have Proof gold, but not in the last 20 years.
