1966 Lincoln.......Do I hear 67 anyone?

Looks all there to me. Right out of a $3 roll.

Pictures aren't hiding anything. The light area under the memorial is very light die polish.

Too much chatter on the portrait for a 67.

    Sweet coin nonetheless.

    Neat die scratches!

I'm no Lincoln expert, but I wouldn't be surprised if I saw it in a 67 holder. image

Not enough pizazz for a 67 IMO, but I wish you luck, for you never know. image

I'm going to say its another 50/50 coin the rev is hammered but the obv seems to have just enough ticks to be questionable, great luster and it could make it....or not.

    66.

It just doesn't strike me as being a 67.

Nice looking Linciln - I'd be surprised if it goes above 66.

Available in bag quantities...a 10¢ coin regardless of attempts to hype the value by encasing in plastic with a lofty opinion grade.

    $80 in 66RD
    $6000 in 67RD

Is that right? I have no idea. I just took that of of the PCGS price guide if in fact I looked it up correctly.

  • Obverse too dinged up to make 67, IMO.
There reverse also has some very minor nicks.

Avoiding an SMS designation is the trick with these, no?

Aren't all nice 1965-1967 coins kind of stuck with tose 3 devaluing letters by default?

Clean coin but no 67. Couple of micro hits on the collar, cheek and rim make this a 66 if you're lucky, 65+ if youre unlucky. The price jump between grades make PCGS very hesitant to assign the next grade up IMO.

  • You know what they say in the Lottery marketing ads on t.v., "All it takes is a dollar and dream."

Same with this coin and hitting 67.

I have to agree with the other's assessment on the chatter obverse side. Too much for a 67.

I don't think this to be an SMS coin. The coin surface's are different between the two types. SMS Lincoln's have more of a glossy, smooth surface with little or none of the polish die scratches you see in business strikes. In fact the surface is almost proof like, unlike the OP's coin.

  • I have plenty that look like this one, and many are 66 Red, the others are 65. Like most peopel here, I do not think this is a 67.

65 due to the gashes and ticks on obverse. They are killers on modern Lincolns.

There may still be 4,000,000 of these out there but if you want a nice Gem example it won't
seem as common. To a degree I can almost agree since this date comes fairly nice. If you just
get one of the 10c coins at random it will probably be decent. Low end Gems are not tough.

But if you want a really spectacular '66 cent you'll find they aren't too much easier than other
cents from that era. While the pictured cent is borderline spectacular for a roll coin I didn't re-
spond because the strike could be better and it's not quite "all there".

It's a nice coin but I doubt slabbing it in this market will return much profit.

  • Pretty coin........I suck at grading........with that in mind, I agree with braddick about the hits on the portrait, and also I think it has weakness in the strike on the reverse
    @ 11:00.

i bet there is no way that is getting into a 67 holder if 6000 is really the value on a 67.
