Sort of OT, but why doesn't anyone use the site's "chat" feature?

I see this site does have a "chatroom" feature, but I pop-in occasionally and it's empty every time.

Did the chatroom once thrive, or has it always been this silent? Just curious.

I think the feature could be very useful to avoid OT threads and just for general discussion of topics that may be too lengthy for thread conversations, or even just to socialize (gasp!)...

I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Just has never seemed to work......Lord knows many forum members have tried!

edited to add: There was one special night a year back or so when the chat went wild for a couple hours....other than that...

Rarely used, never really thrived. A few times, someone would announce they were in the chatroom on the forum, but I don't know if it ever resulted in much socializing.

None of us care to fill the role of "chatroom weenie" that is so delicately espoused by...well, you know who.
