Love of the Game Auctions - Final Day of Bidding

Hi everyone:

Hope all are well, and everyone in the Northeast is prepared for the storm.

Just a reminder that the inaugural Love of the Game auction closes tonight. Extended bidding begins at 6:00 PM Eastern, and in order to bid on an item during the extended bidding period, you must have a bid on that lot before 6.

Link to Auction: https://loveofthegameauctions.com/catalog.aspx

Lots of great high-grade baseball and football HOFers in this auction, including a run of high-grade 1935 National Chicle football high numbers, a wide range of 1950s and 60s baseball HOFers highlighted by a 1957 Topps Mickey Mantle in PSA 8, and an excellent assortment of 1950s and 60s HOF rookie football cards.

If you're not registered, but would like to, please visit our registration page.

Best of luck to everyone participating, and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me at info@loveofthegameauctions.com.

Thanks!
-Al

    Great auction!

I'm both bidding and consigning. One of the best auction houses in the hobby -- check it out and get your bids in!
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

I wouldn't get too upset over it. Yes, it's a nice card. But the bidding is not over and including the 18% premium, you are at $472.00, which is $115.00 less than VCP. Let's see where this ends.
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

The old label flip might be scaring some bidders off. I know I have lost some good VCP money by not changing the label out and listing old label flips on EBay. I am sure it is the same principle.

I picked up a very nice T3 at a fair price with the 18%. Will report on it when I pay.

Thanx Al - very nice first auction!

Here's hoping you have many, many in the future.

Loved the cards I got as well!

Already sent in some (more) consignments for Auction #2. Perhaps my new favourite auction house

I'm a big fan of this auction house. On Marc's recommendation I put in some bids on this latest auction, and I was pleased with everything- the guy I talked to on the phone before and after the auction was exceptionally cool, the shipping charges were exceptionally reasonable, and my cards shipped quickly. I give this operation a big two thumbs up.

Al's a good guy...thanks again for the quick shipping!

Just got my consignors check- this was the easiest transaction I've ever done with an auction house as a consignor. Was happy with the listing, scans, price, and payment. Looking forward to more.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

    I will echo those accolades!

My T3 came - not only boxes - but bubble wrapped - I think raw eggs would've survived their personal touch!

    Thanx Al.

  • Wow!

It's so great to read all these great comments, particularly the ones about the packaging. When you get a package from Love of the Game, I want it to be like opening a birthday present - and I want your winnings to be packaged up securely, but not impossible to unwrap.

In terms of the next auction, I'm currently soliciting consignments with a mid-December deadline, in hopes of closing Auction #2 in early February. My goal is for the next auction to be bigger and more fun than the first. As such, if you've got quality material that you're considering selling, I would love to be considered as a possible resource for you. Obviously we look primarily for quality memorabilia and cards of all sports with a focus on baseball and football. The word "quality" doesn't necessarily connote value in our case; we're interested in scarcity, value, or things that are just plain interesting and have a great story.

Feel free to reach out if you've got specific questions, or if you've got general questions about the auction or anything like that, I'm happy to answer them either privately or here on the board.

    Best,
    -Al
