Best Places to Buy Raw Coins?

My son is interested in starting a Mercury dime collection and would like to fill a Dansco. Most of the places I look either sell graded coins or coins in bulk. Any recommended dealers that sell raw coins that haven't been cleaned by date/mint--oh, and have a good website? Thanks ahead of time!

You would help yourself considerably by specifying the target grade range of raw coins you want to incorporate in the set. Do you want Good-Very Good, or MS Full Bands?

You might want to try Vermont Coins. Owner Tim Puro always has a nice assortment of raw US coins, and has always treated me fairly and honestly.

Hey, thanks for the great answers! As far as grade, I'm trying to steer him toward highest grades he can afford on a dog-walking budget image So, start with BU stuff for the 1940s and see how dedicated he is with the earlier dates.

As far as coin shows, I think I live in the only state without a single coin show! Montana's scenery makes up for it, though image

I agree. eBay is also useful for this project.

I've had good luck hittin a few pawn shops here n there. One guy doesn't care about condition dates or mm's.
Picked up some nice common O mint Morgans in 64ish condition for melt + 10%.

I would go with ebay with OVERSIGHT by you.

This way you get the best deals, learn about the auction process, learn whom to trust and whom not to, and learn how to decipher coin photos.

    Are you anywhere near Spokane?

I understand there's a show there this weekend.

This the only real answer, anything else has been picked over by a dealer or two and while most of the stuff on ebay has too there is plenty there that hasn't.
