Come See My Little Teddy Bear - and a Cool CWT!!

Just picked these up at the Dallas ANA. John Kraljevich (Pistareen) had a table right across from me. He knew I like penny exonumia so he showed me this cute little teddy bear encasement. They used to be quite rare until a family "hoard" of over 200 was discovered. But that didn't diminish it's popularity - or its cuteness!

I also found this very cool Civil War Token at the show - I already have an off center CWT but this one has a major misaligned die and a clipped planchet so I snatched it up for my collection!

The hoard on the Kolb's Bakery Teddy Bears did devalue them but the demand still exceeds what came to market.
Scarcity wise prior to the hoard release just 5 or 6 years ago a brown example on EBay could hammer $850.

<< <i>Sorry Sean, but what's wrong with this cool little CWT being in MY collection????
Nothing... Seanq is just rubbing it in and giving me a hard time

Exactly, just giving BS some grief. It is a great coin and I know you'll give it a good home.

My family used to have an example of penny exonumia, from my grandfather. It was a Wheatie, encased in what looked like an old-fashioned commode. This was made of plastic and had a small keychain on it. The trinket said "good when caught short". I have tried to find it for years, but I think it somehow got lost over time. Still wish I had it, was a very cool item.
