Modern Coin Enthusiasts?

Long story short, I have acquired (with negligible cost) a couple dozen modern coins (2007-2011), all in NGC slabs, all Proof-70 condition. The thing is, I don't collect modern coins, and thus, I'd like to sell/trade them so I can acquire other coins that I enjoy. The PCGS Coin Facts website listed all these coins in the $35-65 range, but I can't find any buyers online- despite listing the coins at a really big discount. Do you know of anyone who's interested in such young coins? Are there people who specialize in them at coin shows? Did anyone else here have a similar problem that I'm facing?

I'm not sure what selling avenues you've tried, but like any coin, selling is never as easy as buying. Price guides provide only rough approximations and don't provide any indication of liquidity or actual demand for a certain coin. There's money to be made in moderns and there is a market, but the market can be different than for other coin classes.

You might have luck lisitng them on an auction site, but if they're not particularly rare, it might take several weeks to find a buyer at your desired price point. On a straight-auction format, you might get only a small fraction of guidebook value, depending on the coins. Look at auction sales records to see what is realistic. Price guide numbers for moderns can be all over the place - literally off by a factor of ten at times.

You can sell the whole lot to a dealer, consign them to a coin auction site like Teletrade or Great Collections or list them on eBay and see what happens.

I would be interested in them. Especially any kennedys. PM me and let me know what you have.

NGC certified PF70 coinage is often discounted mightily when compared to PCGS certified PR70 coinage. Therefore, the PCGS price guide might not be doing you any favors.

Have you tried the BST forum? If they really are a bargain, they should get grabbed up fairly quickly.

Most NGC high graded moderns do not command much premium.
Trying to sell at a coin show will result in practically nothing, as most dealers don't have clients for them that will make any real money and so it is something they are likely to be stuck with, or have to severely discount to get to move.

The BST, with good prices, may move them.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Thanks to everyone for responding with some insightful help. Yeah, I suspected that taking them to coin shows wouldn't do much. Anyway, I have listed them on the BST forum. If anyone wants them, I'm very welcoming to a fair deal.

I suppose I could store them for the long term.. perhaps they'll be worth something in 40 years or so.

The coins you are offering have a very short market window and an even smaller market audience. Regardless of what certain online price guides state.

Additionally, using PCGS as a price guide for PF70's is meaningless with NGC coins. This is probably why they have not sold. Perhaps a BST Deal on the MGC boards is warranted?
