If you're going to list a $25,000 card do you think it might be worth investing in a nice scan of it?

The seller has a lot of other high dollar cards for sale also. They all have better scans than this one, but none of them are great scans. Youd think he would invest in a nice scanner.

I wish more ebay sellers knew when to double down on the bokeh and grain like this guy. would love to see him work the magic on a 100k card.

    .
  • prices are way inflated too
at least from VCP point of view

Prices are outrageously high but there are some fantastic cards in play.

So this seller is just a consignment operation? Do we know whose collection is being sold?

Hmmm ... let's see ... the highest priced one on VCP since 2006 is $11,000.00. Sure, I'd love to buy your card for $24,000.00 .. especially with the up close multiple scans you provide! What a joke.

<< <i>You can't take a better scan if the card is never in your possession....well, until someone buys something from you.

This is wheretheyaint as in the joke is on you. The cards are for sale by someone else. They are selling a service! >>

It was brought to my attention that some of his Pop1 1966 Topps were infact in someone else ' s registry . After contacting the card owner , who I've dealt with many , many times , yes it was confirmed that wheretheyaint was indeed attempting to sell the cards . I don't believe he has actual possession of the cards ( I may or may not be wrong on this ) which would explain the crappy pictures . Charging double is another matter . I just noticed he no longer has the Pop 1 --66's anymore , but the Pop 2's are still from the same owner.---- Sonny

Wow, what a racket. So he basically takes the listing or scan and lists it as his. If he happens to sell it, he goes and buys the card and then does a quick flip?

  • It would be tough to deliver if it's in someones registry and they aren't selling.
  • It is surprising that the seller has a 4.7 'shipping time' DSR (not to mention 100% positive feedback) if he does this on a regular basis.

If he is doing it with the owners knowledge the owner might do the shipping for him.

I mean the owner of the card has to ship it anyway.....

    Good for you.

True enough- but how does the actual owner of the card benefit from that arrangement?

Edited to add: I realize that "the card sells"; but this is assuming that the owner had it for sale anyway. Why help out someone else who is attempting to make an additional profit off your card?
