1796 Dollar PCGS 45 F.S. @ Stack's Bowers Baltimore Sale

I consigned a coin that just didn't fit into my collecting scheme,
although I love the coin, I'd rather have the funds to pick up a
missing coin for one of my Mint Sets.

This is one of the better struck 1796 Small Eagle Dollars I have ever
seen and there are no adjustment marks what so ever. The Eagle's
breast feathers are extremely well struck as well.

The Obverse stars are brought up fully and there hair detail is as
good as any AU coin - if not better - in that series.

This coin is # B-4, BB-61, R-3, Die State 1, Small Date, Large Letters.

Here is the Link to the Stack's Bowers Sale - Auction Lot

I have also attached some images I had made prior to consigning this coin.

    To the top...

I now believe this coin has
    been assigned to Rarities Night.

It has a bit of competition, there
is another B-4, BB-61 in the lot
preceding mine, an AU 53; also
a very nice coin. The price jump
    between the 45 & 53 is substantial.
I sincerely hope this competition is
going to prove healthy for me.

You are correct, your coin is Lot 3164, the previous lot is 3163.
I consigned that coin for the owners of the Carl & Josephine Legacy Collection.
And as you said, both of them are very nice coins.

Last bump - auction is this evening - the bid is at $7,000 - next bid $7,500...... EDIT: 5:30PM - Auction starts in 1/2 Hr. Opening Bid is now $8,500 - FINAL: CUT Bid: $8,250

I hope it gets a lot of floor play as at the moment it's a major loss - this is
a seriously nice coin - tons of detail - even for an XF 45 - absolutely NO adj-
ustment marks - even the Eagle has wonderful detail for the grade.

Thank you for looking - feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
