When the British totally occupied India, they made treaties with certain states that allied with them or surrendered to them. These treaties gave certain princely states some autonomy and even let them mint their own coins. When such coins were minted, they made sure they showed allegience to the British Monarch. This coin with "Friendship with London" written on it is one such display of loyalty to the British Monarch.

<< <i>India. Mewar State (Chitrokot Udaipur) 1/2 Anna. Says on it "Dosthi London Ki" = "Friendship with London" >>
It actually says "Dosti Landhan 1999" translated correctly though as "Friendship with London dated VS 1999). Krause needs to correct this one.
