Looking on the US Patent & Trademark office and other websites, Engelhard filed trademark applications for the following logos on the following dates. This could help to figure out when different types of bars began to be produced.
Old school letter "E" - 1960
Old school "Engelhard" - 1974
"E" globe with "bullseye" - 1981 and another link here.
"Modern" Engelhard logo - 1987
Edited to add: for some of them, the information says the logos first went into use a few years before the application date. DYODD.

I know the 1974 trademark was in use in 1973. Like you note the logos went into use sometime before the filing dates.
