75,082

Can you beat that number?
Find the PCGS-graded coin in your collection with the highest pop number plus pop higher number combination (add the two together). See if you can go higher than 75,082. My coin is pop 43,753 with 31,329 higher. Pretty sobering. Too easy to find these.
I will post the coin later.

That is pretty sobering. I wonder where they all are.

Yep, 1881-s Morgan in MS64.

I come up with 6,344 (2644+3700) - a 1907 $2.50 in MS63.

My icon IS my coin. It is a gem 1949 FBL Franklin.
I am the proud owner of an 1887 MS64 Morgan. Common as dirt but I still like it anyway.
<< <i>Wild guess... 1881-s Morgan $1
UHR
Just looked and worst case now is a AU58 half dollar at about 19K and it is trying to find a new home.

It's CDO man......you have to keep the letters in order!
Yes, a 1881-S Morgan (in a rattler holder). Beats everything else by a country mile.
I had no idea how many Morgans have been graded.
<< <i>Looks like you have to collect Morgan Dollars to play this game.
Not really. Currently I have the "low high" at 159 + 46 = 205 for an MS65 1860 cent (struck from proof dies!)
Next is 83 + 30 = 113 for a 1909 cent in PR65RB
Third is 50 + 15 = 65 for a 1916 cent in PR65RB
Empty Nest Collection
1881-S Morgan (MS63):
Population: 55,911
Higher: 151,026
----------------
Total: 206,937
17,856/10,803 = 28,659
I have two 1881-S Morgans: one MS63, one MS64.
In my PCGS inventory it lists the pop and pop higher as:
MS63: 55,911 151,026 (total: 206,937)
MS64: 89,424 61,542 (total: 150,966)
<< <i>It's weird, PCGS' math seems to be off.

Actually, it looks okay to be. The 151k higher than the 63 is the 89k (in 64) plus the 61k (higher) (all numbers rounded).

Gotcha. So a low-grade 1881-S will have a huge number.
Thanks!
Morgan's really are common....but popular.
