50kb limitation as stated on the upload screen, somewhere i'm not certain

  • The images are under 50kb, they upload into the upload box but for some reason won't attatch. If I copy the URL and paste that would everyone be able to open it?

    thanks for the help

You can copy your image URL, and after opening up a message text box here by using the edit button from your original post, just click on the portrait icon just below the header that says Message Text: - this will open a window with a browser box to paste your image URL in to, and then clicking the O.K. button will place the image in the text box.

You got it! The reverse may have some bearing on the potential for this, but from the appearance of the obverse, it could be a 64 at best. Too much noise in the right obverse field for gem.

AU58 based on the friction in the fields which indicates that it circulated for a short time.

Given a view of the coin from the later set of images, I'll concur with DoubleEagle59. the obverse is all messed up on this coin.image

Any time you have a series of hairlines that move from the devices to the fields (look from the bridge of the nose to the fields in front of the nose) you have an impared coin. If the coin is not in a details holder it should be.

That may not be from cleaning....just regular abuse and coin to coin contact, etc. Could end up anything from cleaned, genuine, AU58 to MS62.
I tend to think a MS61/62 is achievable but the luster is just not there for anything better. If it's already in an NGC 62 or 63 holder, leave it be. There's not
exactly a huge spread to 62 or 63 grade either since the prices of 63's have dropped from $1000 down to <$700.

I'm guessing currently NGC MS63. Quit while you're ahead.

Lightly circulated gold usually has numerous hairlines. This coin may or may not be cleaned depending on the number and orientation of the hairlines (parallel vs. random). It's hard to tell one way or the other from these poor quality pics. Based on the OP's question I'm assuming it was graded otherwise the question doesn't make any sense.

  • I can see where alot of you are saying cleaned from the second set of pics, but the scratches when looking at it in hand are actually on the case. That being said obviously my pics are not that good since it also doesnt show that it also has great luster. Just clarifying to aid in the guesses.

From the pics I say there is no way that it can be higher than 62. Looks cleaned to me too.

With the images supplied grading is not really possible. Just as well be trying to look at it from across the street.

  • Ok well, that was an epic fail. I guess I had better join a photography class before I post images with a "guess the grade" theme. LOL The coin is absolutely not cleaned, the images definitely did not do it justice. There is a small amount of chatter, in the feild to the left of the bust that is, as Perry Hall suggeted, random scratches, not parallel which is often seen on gold. There is such a small amount of scratches/tiny little knicks and the strike is rather clean that I have wondered if it could grade higher. I wish the pictures could have done it justice. My Bad! Shame on me for posting pics not worthy.

Based on your explanation Snap, I'd say NGC got it correct. I don't see any upgrade here, even with most scratches on the holder.

Agree. Nice coin and I like it just fine in its current holder.

Doesn't have the snappy and full luster required of a 63. The luster in that left obv field looks somewhat reduced.
And this is a coin that could easily come back bagged if cracked out. MS62 is fine.

Most $5 libs that are graded ms62 get that grade because of cleaning to some extent. You would be hard pressed to find a $5 lib that achieved that grade on marks alone.
