    Very nice card!

SMR shows $2,650 on this and it looks like you won it for $1,936.

What price range have these been trading in recently?

Since 2010, these are the only ones listed:

    10/5/12 eBay $1,936.00
    12/2/11 Greg Bussineau $2,400.00
    11/12/11 eBay $2,499.00
    9/26/11 eBay $3,400.00

It looks like you got a great price!

The population of PSA 9's is only 12 with no 10's.

I am guessing the low feedback from the seller and poor presentation of the auction perhaps kept a few other high end collectors away.

With such a low pop, makes you wonder if any of the above sales were for this exact card. (Obviously the most recent was this card.)

Hot damn that is purdy. I knew 71's were tough, but had no idea Greene that much of a premium for a 9...crazy.

BTW, I always loved the position characters on the 71s.

Stunning Card. I think any football fan would be proud to own one of those at any price. Congrats on the acquisition.

Yes these are very offensive posts.

Dpeck100 how dare you care about the price I paid for a card and if it looks like a good deal.

No one collects cards and even thinks about if it is good money spent.

I mean come on dude, how dare you even think of the value of a transaction and if there is any chance you could get your money out of the purchase.

You have insulted this thread in showing the card collecting community how rare my card is and showing them that there are only 12 of these in this grade and non higher.

Lets face it the fact that there are no 10's and only 12 9's and my purchase was much lower then the other four in the past few years is no one's business.

You are such a jerk for making it clear I got a great deal on a prized football rookie card.

  • Gotta side with samspop on this one. Sometimes people don't want the focus to be on money spent and only want to share the card.

In no way is this a dig on dpeck (although I will admit I often long for the chance to blast him) since the info is just floating out there easy for anyone to find. All we need now is for tommy to brag about his coworker conquests while wiping his ass with PSA 9 Greene rookie cards after playing golf with Tiger and poker with the starting lineup of the Atlanta Falcons.

That is what makes this so absurd; the fact that none of this is private information. OP blew a gasket for absolutely no valid reason. You shouldn't post things that you don't want anyone talking about.

My guess is the OP posted what he did when the Nats were beating his Cards 6-0. I think he feels better now. I

That is a beauty. Super tough card to find in that condition. Always really liked the look of the 71 Topps Football set as well.

I felt like I needed to bump this thread one time to defend myself for something I did not do...and which shows the level to which the board drops at times. The above post, which I can only guess that DPeck wanted to sound like was a note from me was NOT from me. In retrospect, I owe DPeck and apology for busting his chops about posting immediately about what I paid for the card...I should have expected that to be posted, but for some reason, it rubbed me the wrong way...and for that I apologize.

However, for DPeck to post something like this, my only guess is that his intention was for the board to believe that I sent him this message via PM or otherwise...which I absolutely DID NOT DO, but because of a few board members asking me about this, I felt the need to bump this thread to defend myself.

The "roid rage" referred to by drewsf and the "OP blowing a gasket" referred to by sportscardtheory show that DPeck hit his mark with a few board members with what he was trying to do...which, at best, was childish.

I appreciate the positive comments, and yes, I do feel like a got a much better card than the price that I paid.

    Thanks.

I read it as drewsf meaning that DPeck was in a roid rage.

Now that you mention it, that post did sound rather odd coming from Mike. If dpeck fabricated that, that's just wrong.

    Samsop,

You know exactly what you wrote. I just happened to be reading the boards when it was written.

No one can accuse me of not having thick skin and not letting things go on this board.

My little parody post was a remake of exactly what you wrote with a little color. There was no PM. You deleted your post for good reason.

I have never been a trouble maker on this board and never will be.

You wrote an extremely derogatory post about my responses to your thread and I responded. You can call it roid rage or whatever you want.

Not sure where you are taking this DPeck, but my comment was that there are some people on this board that put a pretty specific emphasis on what you paid for a card and whether you got a good deal or not...and it was directed at you...however, I deleted it rather quickly and offered you an apology. Based on your response above, and the fact that you put a lengthy post out to make a reader believe that I sent that to you, I assume you want to keep the pot stirred. That's not my style, so continue as you wish.
