newpaper press photos - question

I'm interested in those photos of sports stars from the archives of newspapers. How can I tell if a photo for sale at a show is a Type 1 or a wire photo? I don't know hardly anything about this stuff and its value, but I did buy some Mantle photos from the Miami Herald archives at the National. I don't know which they are. How do you value these items?

Always looking for Mantle cards such as Stahl Meyer, 1954 Dan Dee, 1959 Bazooka, 1960 Post, 1952 Star Cal Decal, 1952 Tip Top Bread Labels, 1953-54 Briggs Meat, and other Topps, Bowman, and oddball Mantles.

    I would go to net54.com. There are several photo collectors over there that are willing to help.
