paypal gift question

Does anybody know if there is a limit on sending a paypal gift? Also, has anybody gotten any larger paypal gifts? I just wondered if it raises any "red flags" with paypal. I would appreciate input. Oh and if I put this in the wrong forum I apologize.

  • I'm not sure about a dollar amount. I thought there was a thread awhile ago about someone that kept using the gift option and paypal flagged their account and said they couldn't send or receive gift payments anymore.

I have received $8k and sent $10k as single payments in the past. If you are not doing it from the computer you typically use they will ask you to enter you bank account info to confirm the account.
  • thank you for the info

  • Don't do it. It will definitely flag Paypal. I had a guy send me over $200. one time as a "gift" and I didn't even realize it. About a month later Paypal opened a case (on their own, no problem from the buyer). They immediately limited my account for a couple of weeks. Not realizing what the problem was I sent them delivery confirmations and spent hours on the phone with idiots pleading my case. Long story short the guy got his money back even though I had the confirmation.

Paypal and I have never gotten along since, and as a matter of fact any Paypal account that is ever linked to my name will be permanantly limited. All of this and I honestly never did anything wrong.

So the guy purchases an item.......pays by gift.........you have confirmation paperwork and you lose the money. "WOW". This goes against what I've heard about gift is bad for the buyer. I think PAYPAL makes up things as they go along.
