Standard time to wait before contacting Ebay re: non payer?

What is the normal amount of time you eBay sellers wait before contacting eBay about a non-payer? It's been 9 days since the two auctions ended and the high bidder has not paid or contacted me. I have sent two reminder emails but no response. In checking the buyers feedback, he has paid for several items he won in other auctions on or later than my auctions ended. His feedback is 100% with 200+ responses. Based on that information I tend to believe the buyer will come through, I just don't understand why someone goes this long without at least contacting the seller. I've had several buyers ask if they can pay in a week or on the next payday and that is always fine with me. Anyway, thanks in advance for your responses.

  • I may contact them after 3 days with a cordial email. If no response, then after 7 days I send a non-payment report. At that point, if they dont respond, then get your FVF back and call it a day.
  • I wait 7 days and send an invoice, plus a reminder at Day 7. If I have no communication with the buyer in 8 days I send in a NPB claim. No problem waiting for payment as long as I know I am waiting. Feedback also factors in, No communication in 7 days from 100+ feedback is easier than no communication and 0 or 1 feedback.

    I use the NPB Assistant.

If open a NPB case after 4 days and then they have another 4 days to pay.

Have only had 1 non buyer since I started using this,

  • In all of my listings, I say that the buyer has 7 days to pay. If the buyer has only won a single item, I don't send invoices after the auction ends, but just let the buyer pay via ebay without the invoice. However, if the buyer hasn't paid by day 3-4, then I send the invoice out. If after day 7, there is still no payment, then I message the buyer saying that it is day 7 and payment is due, but if they need more time to pay, then let me know. If I still don't receive any messages back or payment for a couple of days after that, then I file the non-payer case w/ ebay.

One thing to note is that I have some repeat buyers, and some of these buyers are slow to pay every time, but usually always pay in the end. For these buyers, I give them more time and don't send the message even after day 7.
