Help please regarding CHIPPER JONES 1997 Topps Stadium Club MILLENNIUM card.

Hi guys,

I am not familiar with modern cards, but do have a 5,000 ct box I am going thru. I came across the following Chipper cards. The colors are exactly the same ... they appear different because the light from the scanner hit them differently.

image

They cards look the same ... front and back ... except for one difference. The one on the left is embossed, while the one on the right is flat, like most cards. I could not find any info about these cards. Is either one scarce? Are they worth anything?

THANKS.
STAY HEALTHY!

Tom, thanks for the reply ... I did the same search, but did not see any comment regarding the Chipper embossed v. regular card.

This site talks about all the cards that were made in the TSC that year, including the Millennium cards. I don't see anywhere were they differentiate between embossed and regular.

Tom ... yes, I see where they talk about the "Pure Gold Embossed" cards. They mention that on the site I referred to as well. However, this is not a PURE GOLD card.

I may be driving myself crazy with this (LOL) but I'll keep looking into it! Maybe someone that knows this set well will see my post also.

This is the information I have - maybe an unreported difference b/n the retail and hobby inserts? the "Super Sweet 90's inserts" thread over on the FCB site might have a better answer.

    Millennium

    Millennium was a 40-card
    insert that was released with
20 cards in Series I and Series
II. The set featured 40 top
prospects and rookies on a silver
    foil, holographic front,
    with a Future Forecast section
on the back. Cards carried an
    “M” prefix and were numbered
    consecutively M1-M40.
    Millennium inserts were
    found every 24 hobby packs
    and every 36 retail packs.

Doug - there is a huge '90s insert thread on freedomcardboard.com. The site seems to be down right now, which is pretty unusual. I'll link it as soon as it comes back up. I'd be very surprised if someone there couldn't tell you all about the cards you have.

ok, they're back up. Here's the link: Oh Super Sweet 90s Inserts thread

Thanks Geordie ... That's the same one Saucy gave me. I went there and looked in the thread for a bit. I guess I will ask the same question over there tomorrow ... IF I remember! LOL
