Some old Roman coins...

The advantage of living in Spain...we drove down towards Tarifa and saw the ruins of Baelo Claudia. There is a museum so naturally I checked out the coinage. Pretty fun
. Saturday we were in Sevilla and walked by the cathedral that has parts of Columbus in a tomb (didn't go inside as we had a dog) and today's adventure was Gibraltar. So, I'm thinking I need to add a Sevilla mint coin, a Roman coin and a Cadiz mint coin to my 'where I've been in the world' collection.

plus an old photo...an abandoned sugar factory with tons of stork nests we drove by:

So, no new coins for me, but I'm starting to plot a new collection

Just sailed through the straits there about two months ago. I had the deck and had to kick old ABE into full gear to outrun one of the high speed ferry's that run between Europe and Africa. I think it surprised them as they are not used to something so big being able to outrun them.

Funny thing is I spent 2 months ON a high speed ferry--only the Military Sealift Command is leasing it, painted it grey and calls it the HSV-2 Swift (High Speed Vessel, personally I consider hsv-2 to be an unmentionable and contagious disease
I can tell you the Swift has a ride NOTHING like a carrier...the nickname is the 'vomit comet'. Apparently I don't get seasick however--never missed a meal.
