Does BVG 9.5 really equal a PSA 10?

I see a lot of eBay sellers write BVG 9.5=PSA 10 or something of the sort. Either to get PSA keyword search, or there is the mentality that because it says "Gem Mint" on a 9.5, therefore it must mean its as good as a PSA 10. When I see the breakdown of the four points of consideration on a BVG and centering is a 9 (or one of the factors), while the other 3 are a 9.5, it leaves me wondering. In my understanding, BVG does grade cards at a 10.
I am curious to hear some opinions here.

However, there's a lack of hard and strict industry standards as to how to grade a card.
WTB: 2001 Leaf Rookies & Stars Longevity: Ryan Jensen #/25
Edit to add = as far as the 9 centering on a gem mint card, There's tons of PSA 10's if sent in would garner a 9 on centering with BGS.. there's weak cards for every grade as well as very strong cards for every given grade,
Now on paper
Off of PSA's website
For a GEM MINT
"The image must be centered on the card within a tolerance not to exceed approximately 55/45 to 60/40 percent on the front, and 75/25 percent on the reverse."
Off of BGS website
Mint 9
Centering: 55/45 both ways on front. 70/30 or better on back.
So PSA's centering standards for a "gem mint" are the Same as BGS centering standards for a 9 (once again on paper) we all know there is overgraded and undergraded cards..
From my understanding the OP was asking if a BVG 9.5 and PSA 10 are equal grade per company and the answer is yes they are both companies designated gem mint grade..
<< <i>The meaning of BVG 9.5 and PSA 10 are both companies designated grade for "gem mint" as it states on the label under the numerical grade, So Yes they are a egual "grade" a BVG 10 = pristine.. same with SGC a 98 is gem mint the equal numerical grade to PSA 10 while the SGC 100 is a Pristine..

From this logic, then, a "Pristine" card is a higher grade than a "Gem Mint". I might be splitting hairs on this. But given a BGS 9.5 and a SGC 98 are "Gem Mint" cards, while 10 and 100 respectively are considered Pristine, they would follow to be slightly better.
PSA hands out 9.5's now, do they not? I would guess that previous to this, a 9.5 would equate to a Gem Mint, but if PSA grades a 9.5, then it would be equal to a 9.5?

No PSA does not have a 9.5 and what I'm saying is not a guess lol..
PSA 10
sgc 98
bgs 9.5
these 3 are "gem mint" for each grading company...
SGC 100
BGS 10
PSA (no pristine grade)
These are the "Pristine" grade per each company
<< <i>nice card but looks sheet cut to me. PSA wouldnt grade it at all . beckett will grade sheet cut cards >>
Arnt all cards cut from sheets? lol
<< <i>yes they are. well PSA did grade the T206 wagner a 8 that was a sheet cut card. maybe they changed their rules after they graded the wagner the next day lol lol >>
They avoid grading "obvious" sheet cuts like OPC etc... BUT I'll bet anybody on this forum I could cut up a sheet of 1990's cards and they would all get graded..
Did a little test on here before where I trimmed some cards and sent them to a forum member who claims he could tell which ones were trimmed since it's so easy to spot.. out of 10 cards he couldn't find the 3 trimmed and I'm not sure but I think they went a step further by sending them in and they got holdered by PSA as well..
Just saying...
