Best Option for Selling Graded Cards

After years of collecting I'm looking at selling part of my collection. I could sell on Ebay myself. Could also sell through an auction house.
Could also sell through others who basically just use Ebay as the auction and they handle the shipping - collections. Lot to consider: maximizing value, costs, buyer base, etc. Unclear which is best option. Appreciate any and all advice on this topic. I have hundreds of vintage cards but also 1980's to present. All graded. Tks.

I would strongly consider selling them here on the BST board or try the net 54 BST board. Ebay will obviously eat into your profits, however exposure would be maximized there. Also, is time a major consideration that you need to address before handling sales yourself? Best of luck whatever you choose.

If u have the ability to make a quality scan and time then ebay is the way 2 go. On the higher prices cards start at fixed price BIN of what you would like to get.
if you need the money sooner then start a tad lower and auction settings. If u have the ability to list for free that is a good option.

Consign to a major ebay player such as prewarcollector, or steve novella if you are selling just high end. Probstein 123 handles all levels of cards from lower price on up.
all 3 do a very good job.

They have the ability to present and describe the card very well.

Of course right here on the boards works for many of us. I have bought and sold a lot through here.

    Buy/Sell/Trade

I have also sold quite a bit to fellow board members. Remember, you don't have to pay ANY fees here.

I recently sold my much cherished set on Ebay within 1 day. If you collect stuff that people want then Ebay will get you market price because everyone buys off of Ebay that buys stuff. For the items that you have no idea of pricing list high as a Buy It Now but take best offers and you will be surprised how many people contact you.

The auction houses either offer a huge buyers fee or a fee that is negotiable down to 3-4% if you ask. If you have a bunch of items then expect to take a beaten on some cards and be happy with some but I wasn't willing to take that risk with my one item.

If you don't have a high feedback score and don't really have time for all the shipping then Rick is a good possibility.

If you do the selling you will get a handle on what things are worth and how some of the jokers out there work.

You can only get high prices when you get two or more interested and you might not get that here. Everyone is out for a great deal.

    Good Luck,

Mike ... you are correct about the high prices, but I don't think everyone on this board is out for a great deal.

I would think the OP, unless he has something very rare, would be happy with getting ~VCP on eBay. If he listed those items here at 90% of VCP, both the seller and the buyer would probably get a better deal than if they each went the eBay route.
