Fergie Jenkins + free inscription = a good story

So Mr. Jenkins was signing today in White Plains ($25) and a free inscription.
A few years ago, I bought a sweet Jenkins rookie off these boards (thanks, Ron Burgandy), and thought I'd get it signed.
Usually, when I get an inscription, I write what I want on an index card.
But today, I brought two cards and said, "Mr. Jenkins, if you could write either of these, I'd appreciate it."
And I lay them down in front of him to read.
Card 1 said: I didn't inhale, either. Card 2 said: I struck out Mantle at the All-Star game
Honestly, he's so taken with the brightness of the card, he doesn't even hear what I say and calls over to someone he's with to see the card.
Then he says, what do want me to write? Either of these, I say.
He looks at Card 1 and (misses the joke) asks what it means. I say an ex-President said it. He chuckles. I couldn't tell if it was a nervous chuckle or he got the joke. Then he reads card 2 and says immediately, "that was '67." I could tell he liked that one and asked if he would please write that.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
