Exactly HOW Great is Eric Newmans Collection?

I think a lot of incredible pieces repose there and will either become a windfall to the ANA or be the last of the Mega Auctions ( Eliasberg, Ford). Thoughts?

    1792 copper half disme.

    1792 silver center cent.

    1792 WASHINGTON PRESIDENT in gold.
  • When it comes time for Mr. Newman's collection to be dispersed, I sincerely hope that collectors of the day will be allowed the same opportunity to acquire coins from his collection just as he was afforded those opportunities from the collectors before him.

That wont happen. He has his Museum in ST Louis at Washington University. That is where his collection is rotated out.

In the early 1940's, he famously owned ALL (5) of the 1913 Liberty nickels.

I knew Eric for seven years. I've broken bread with him and his family. I didn't know he collected coins at that time. I didn't collect coins at the time. Matter of fact I didn't have two nickels to rub together back then.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
