Newps: Madera Trading Company Coal Script tokens

Picked these up last week as I thought they were interesting. They were packaged in cello. Not sure but I think these are from the late teens as one token has 1912 on it. If anyone knows anything more about these, that would be great. When I showed my father what I had bought, he told me his grandfather who came over from Italy had worked in the coal mines in Pa around 1899.

Seems like the $, $5, $10 would be uncommon since that would have been a lot of money back then. But since it's redeemable at the company store maybe not - 'keep the workin' man down'. Wonder how long they have been in cello. Some nice airtights may look better.

Yea, I'd pull them out of that plastic, and give them a soak in acetone.

Yeah your right. I read that sometimes these would be only worth 50% there face value.

Thinking about it. Thought it was kind of cool that someone put them in cello. Reminds me of mint set cello plastic. Its not soft and doesn't smell like PVC.
