I miss the show reports, and Newp show & tells... Post your Newps for this week!

It seems that almost every other week a show is happening... So lets get some reports... I enjoy the big show reports, but I am more interested in the smaller shows. I also like to see Newps!
So post your Newps for the week!

The first stop was Spring, TX to visit with my Uncle and Aunt ( a good 1/2 way point from El Paso to New Orleans). I was able to find a nice shop, and pick up a few raw errors. The price was right, so I got them. I find it interesting to talk with dealers, and learn a little about the fakes that are being seen in the area. He had a few specimens for show. They were Mexican coins, and the weight was off/sound was not right.
My next journey was to New Orleans, my wife was interviewing for a position there. It also happened to be our 2 year anniversary. We were actually married in the french quarter, and we spent the evening in the hotel we stayed at during the week of the wedding. During her interview I had time to cruise around the French Quarter, I have been coming here since I can remember, having grown up on the gulf coast. I enjoyed a nice cigar, at the cigar rolling factory on Decatur Street, and found my way to the Cohen & Sons Coin Shop. Their shop is always nicely kept, and they have some very neat pieces on display. I learned a little about the 1982 La Meridan Hotel Hoard that was unearthed by excavators in the french quarter, revealing 4 wooden boxes containing silver & gold coins from the era in which they were hidden, the last date I saw was 1841. I imagine it was quite a site to behold as women and men in business suits jumped into the hole trying to pocket whatever they could grab of the coins. The Cohen brothers had quite a nice selection of coins, and if you are in the area I encourage you to stop in! Barry Cohen, Father, Uncle, and Grandfather are very knowledgeable and a joy to talk with.
My wife and I left New Orleans, and traveled to Cincinnati, OH (my wife's hometown) with a short stop in Memphis to visit friends. Cincinnati is a great city. Every time I am there I stop and visit a coin shop on the Northeast side of town, Franklin Street Coins. The dealer is nice, and very knowledgeable. I purchased a coin outside of my comfort zone, a 1767A RF counter stamped. My first journey into colonial type coins. He can be found on ebay at fscc
After leaving Cincinnati, we left for Mobile, AL (my hometown). I stopped at a shop called Mobile Bay Coins, the dealer is originally out of St Louis. He was very kind, as they let me look through every box of coins. They had a nice 1868 J-618 PF64CAM, I was going to snag it until I realized I already had it! (I need the J-615). If you need toned coins, this is the place! The have everything from 1C to 1$. He can be found on ebay at wildwoodscollectibles. I just picked up some trinkets here.
Tomorrow we start our journey back to El Paso. In the next week we should be finding out where we are moving to New Orleans, or Memphis... Job hunting can be stressful
No new images yet, just seller pics. And as always, waaaaay better in hand than the images show. Horrible images of a couple of great looking Mercs.
Both are in rattler 65/CAC holders.
