6 years to find a modern base rookie /425 is way too long

FINALLY!!!
Back in 05/06 I decided to collect the base set rookies of a bunch of Redskins and Steelers. I finally found the last card I needed for Chris Cooley; the Playoff Honors RC numbered to 425. He has 23 rookies, I got the 22nd I needed back in 2009. The copy I got is only the 2nd one of these I have ever seen.
Last year, 1 popped up on eBay as an auction, and I got outbid on my $30 snipe
Its probably a $6 card, if that. I joined BlowOut last week and for the hell of it decided to search for Cooley Honors. Was surprised to get a hit. Found it for sale as part of a 20 card Cooley rookie lot. Offered him 20% of his lot price for the 1 card and he accepted.
Thrilled to finally have this nearly worthless base rookie set completed. Sometimes, the little victories are the best.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

<< <i>I know how you feel. However, at least with me, the the "victory" of acquiring the hard to find card tends to vanish once the next hunt begins. >>
Agree completely. Unsaid in the original post is the fact that Cooley wasn't the only rookie base set I started then that hasn't been finished. I still need 3 more to finish Casey Hampton.
Problem with guys like these, is too often they end up in common boxes. Thats why some of Troy Polamalu's rookies are hard to find. He barely played his first season, and many were already considering him a bust after just 1 season.

<< <i>ah....I don't have anything back that far. I got back into it in 2004....so I probably have a few Cooley RCs....but didn't get much of the Honors set, so I couldn't even help ya there. Sorry man. >>
No prob, thanks for looking.

I'm rather obsessively collecting Jerry Porter #ed rookies (including #ed parallels). For most of the cards, I have amassed 1-2% of the print run (including over 2% on both SPx and SP Authentic), but for the Skybox Hobby rookie #/2000, I have only 5 of the card (0.25%). It's not that they're going past what I'm willing to pay; they just don't get listed on eBay.
