Who was the best off season free agent pickup: Fielder or Pujols?

I think Prince Fielder did a lot more for his team. Pujols looks miserable and unhappy every time I see him.

Any thoughts???
Paul.

Later, Paul.

I think the best roster moves this season (signings, trades, call ups) were both rookies- Trout and Harper. IMO they are more responsible for their teams success (or near success, in the case of the Angels) than any free agent signing.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

Hiroki Kuroda had a higher WAR than either Pujols or Fielder.

How about Cespedes for the A's. Solid year.

Without a doubt...Johnny Gomes. Listening to the post-game interviews today every coach and most of the players pointed out Johnny Gomes as a big reason for the A's uncanny success. Sometimes it's not the big money guys who make the difference. A guy like Gomes can come in and stabilize a team, especially a team as young as the A's.

    Longtime A's fan who's so stoked I can't sleep!

Agree with Gomes. I also like Ryan Ludwick for the Reds. He was key when Votto was out of the lineup, and was a huge reason the Reds made the playoffs.

  • Prince Fielder. Not only did he force the opponent to pitch to Cabrera...but he also was the reason Cabrera moved to third and Inge was finally bounced out of Motown. The best collateral damage a slugger could produce. Not sure what his WAR was...because no one cares.

Fielder had a better year, but not by much.

Pujols is the best $$$ STL never spent. We might have finished higher in the standings with him but we are in the dance and moving on to play Washington and AP didn't even get a sniff. A lot of folks in STL are pretty happy about that combo right now. I would have to believe folks in LA think Fielder was the better pickup and I agree. Long term, who knows. This season, AP is playing golf and his former team and Fielder are BOTH in the playoffs so I'd say it's pretty clear cut on who were the winners and losers with their decisions this past season.
